What is Shiatsu?

Originating in Japan, Shiatsu is a healing art that has evolved from millennia of Oriental medical practise. Like most Oriental medical branches, Shiatsu views disease as an imbalance or blockage in the “Qi”. “Qi” is an energising force that maintains and supports the physical body, mind and spirit. It is the balanced, uninterrupted flow of “Qi” throughout the body that is held to be essential to health.

Although if translated literally Shiatsu means “Finger pressure” the therapist can also use their thumbs, arms and elbows during treatment!

What To Expect:
Shiatsu is a holistic therapy treating the whole being, using a combination of therapeutic touch, holding, and gentle stretching techniques. Shiatsu uses no drugs or needles. It is a non-invasive therapy that has been successful with a wide range of conditions. Clients often experience a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing after treatment.

Almost everyone can benefit from Shiatsu
Overwork, stress, the tensions of modern life take their toll and shiatsu is a wonderful way of restoring body and soul.
